As an orthopedic surgeon, I have been treating elderly patients with fractures at acute care hospitals. While I was happy to see a patient recover, I was also disappointed, thinking that if I had properly intervened to treat osteoporosis in the first place, the patient would not have suffered so much.
We started research on AI in 2019 and have cultivated the know-how through multiple AI developments. At this point, we thought that AI might be able to solve the social issue of low treatment intervention rates for osteoporosis, and started developing an ``AI medical device that tests for osteoporosis from chest X-rays.''
Thanks to the help of many people, we now have a path to commercialization. Considering its social significance, I decided to dedicate myself to spreading this medical device around the world and solving the social issues facing Japan, and decided to stop my career as a doctor and concentrate on business.
